Our Story
Currimundi United Football Club has been part of the fabric of the Sunshine Coast since 1980. What began as the Currimundi Churches Soccer Club — a small gathering of locals who loved the game — has grown into one of the region’s most vibrant grassroots football communities, proudly calling Frank McIvor Park in Currimundi, Queensland, home.
WELCOME HOME
OUR COLOURS, OUR COAST
Pull on the Green and Gold and you’re wearing more than just a jersey. Our colours are a nod to the coastal environment that surrounds us — to the ocean, the dunes, and the stories of this land that go back long before football was ever played here. That connection runs deep, and it shapes everything about who we are.
Currimundi - "Place of flying fox"
This painting depicts the significance & traditional stories in the area.
The fish in the middle represent "mullet season" migrating.
The blue dolphin fins represent the story of our ancestors utilizing the significance of the local dolphins,"to push the schools of mullet closer to shore, where our people would wait with nets & spears "
The "kangaroo tracks" represent the kangaroos coming down the shore line, and a reminder to always walk forward, as the kangaroo never takes a backward step.
The blue oval shapes above the kangaroo tracks represent the local " shell fish" pipi shells, mussel shells, and our women collecting and gathering them.
The "U" shapes and lines represent our ancestors hunting and gathering.
The " dot circles with u shapes around them represent people from all walks of life coming together. Thelines and dots next to them represent rain and the coming of a new season. The design work next to the rain represent fishing nets.
Created for us by James Doyle a highly respected Indigenous Australian artist, teacher, and cultural educator. He is a proud Gubbi Gubbi (Kabi Kabi), Butchulla, Iman, Gungarri, and Lardill man.
A CLUB FOR EVERYONE
GRASSROOTS, ALWAYS
Despite our growth, we haven’t lost sight of what matters most. CUFC is, and always will be, a community club. There are no egos here — just families, volunteers, and players who show up week after week because they love the game and the people around it.
Whether you’re a first-time player, a returning member, or someone looking to get involved behind the scenes, there’s a place for you at Currimundi United.
Welcome to the family.
From the moment a child first pulls on their boots at U6, to the Over-35s and Over-45s still running hard on a Friday nights, CUFC is a club that grows with you. With over 600 members across age groups from U6 to U17, Senior Men’s, Women’s, and Masters divisions, we are proudly the largest SCCSA-affiliated club on the Sunshine Coast.
Every single team — from the U7 Batfish and U10 Mullets, to the Irukandjis and the Krakens — is driven by volunteer coaches, dedicated committee members, and generous community sponsors who believe in what this club stands for.
A HISTORIC MILESTONE
For decades, our club made do with a modest set-up — a small canteen, bathrooms, and a maintenance shed. It was humble, but it was ours.
In early 2026, that chapter came to a close in the best possible way. The Queensland Government announced a $1 million investment to deliver a brand-new, modern community clubhouse at Frank McIvor Park. It is the biggest infrastructure development in the club’s 45-year history — a facility that reflects the size, ambition, and heart of a club that has never stopped growing.
